Window

Image
Window, like perspective, it shapes how we view ourselves and the world. We have the ability to learn from our past, that includes pain experiences,  It helps us to survive and not to repeat our past mistake,  but interestingly, It can also loop us into perceiving threat when there is no real threat.  In the past, we learned that there is a threat, so we have good reasons to believe there is. For example, we witness incident happened at the car park, so we will be vigilant ( fight/flight mode) when we are in the car park.  Our system helps us to adapt and prepare us. However, when this system is activated by a series of events for a long time, how would it be? We feel exhausted. We can't predict when and how.  Unless we observe our body. We scan our bodies. We learn to regulate our bodies by relaxing our bodies. A journey of healing. As the whisper of the summer, it slowly calms my mind,  wind touches my face, my muscles in my body are relaxed by me, intentionally, it is like, I am

Heart

Image
Heart, as it stands in the middle of life, it resonates with the body, It tells the story, It is resting,  it sings, the core of it,  it is blended with the sadness, disappointment, boredom. The line was blurred. It echoes, seeking the light, it shines, It calls me. Hello, are you here?

The Cat I

Image
Art Therapy & Processing Deeply, it was touched by the layers of lights, it waits, it is coming slowly, bit by bit, remaining the cat, about the world. The cat is healing, resting, and savoring the moment of life. He is breathing in and breathing out. The space between the outside world and the inner world are intertwining, it connects, disconnects, and rejoins. The space expands and restricts. He is listening, watching and observing, sometimes, wish it is not part of the world, to be in a safe space of moon, but when times come, the cat will join the world, to anticipate part of the life process, to witness and embrace every part of life. -The Cat I

Silent

Silent, I feel the silent, I listen to the nothingness, The wind is blowing, it is very calming, I feel my body, getting lighter.  I am savoring the moment, I feel the moment,  I feel the now. Now, I am not in the past, I am not in the future,  I am here, now, in the present.  Right now, I feel My breath, I inhale, My lung expands, Air filled my body, Cells feel their nourishment, My hand feels lighter,  My feet feel grounded, I feel grounded, Like roots connected to the mother earth, feeling the energy from earth, Inhale, I feel the wind on my face, exhale, my body relaxed gradually, I relax, That feeling is so comfortable, I am in the middle of the universe,  It is quiet, I feel the energy in my body,  warmth, gentle and kind, flowing through my whole body, I feel my heart beat,  signifies life & love that I have for myself. bless you Bless yourself <3

Therapeutic alliance

Image
Throughout the journey as a trauma survivor as well as a counselor. I have learned to follow the pace of my client. Healing from trauma is not something that you can rush. It takes time to build the therapeutic alliance and trust for the healing to begin. As a trauma survivor, I know that trust is not something that I can rush for. As a client, I take time to build trust with my therapist to enter a stage where we can start working on trauma. As a counselor, I understand that client takes time to build up the therapeutic alliance to start the trauma work.  According to Gentry, Baranowsky, and Rhoton ( 2017), they reviewed the four main active ingredients in treatment for trauma, which are therapeutic alliance, relaxation, exposure/narrative, and cognitive restructuring.  Focusing on the element of the therapeutic alliance, building trust with the client sets the foundation for the healing journey. As a client, if I don't trust or I don't have a relationship with my therapist, I

Trauma

Image
“Traumatized people chronically feel unsafe inside their bodies: The past is alive in the form of gnawing interior discomfort. Their bodies are constantly bombarded by visceral warning signs, and, in an attempt to control these processes, they often become expert at ignoring their gut feelings and in numbing awareness of what is played out inside. They learn to hide from their selves.” (p.97)” ―  Bessel A. van der Kolk,  The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma

Emotionally Focused Therapy With Gay Male Couples

Image
Emotionally Focused Therapy With Gay Male Couples The three stages of the EFT approach are de-escalation, restructuring problematic  attachment patterns , and consolidation/integration (Johnson, 2004 ; Moser et al.,  2015 ). Deescalation includes four steps that culminate with reframing the prob lem in terms of underlying emotion and attachment needs. Restructuring attach ment includes three steps in which the therapist works with each partner to first  promote the identification of disowned attachment emotions and needs, second to  promote the acceptance of their partner’s experience and create new interaction responses, and third to facilitate the expression of needs and wants and create emo tional engagement through bonding events that redefine each partner’s attachment.  Finally,  consolidation focuses on creating new solutions to old relationship problems  and consolidating the new positions each partner has in their new, more positive  interaction cycle. The focus here is on the

She dances

“She dances, She dances around the burning flames with passion, Under the same dull stars, Under the same hell with crimson embers crashing, Under the same silv er chains that wires, All her beauty and who she is inside, She's left with the loneliness of human existence, She's left questioning how she's survived, She's left with this awakening of brutal resilience, Her true beauty that she denies, As much she's like to deny it, As much as it continues to shine, That she doesn't even have to admit, Because we all know it's true, Her glory and success, After all she's been through, Her triumph and madness, AND YET, SHE STANDS. Broken legs- but she's still standing, Still dancing in this void, You must wonder how she's still dancing, You must wonder how she's not destroyed, She doesn't even begin to drown within the flames, But little do you realize, Within these chains, She weeps and she cries, But she still goes on, And just you though
